School of Excellence

The School of Excellence title is the highest recognition awarded to a school by the Prince William County School Board. The title, "School of Excellence," is earned by schools demonstrating high levels of performance, including meeting federal Annual Measurable Objectives, achieving full state accreditation, and successfully meeting PWCS Strategic Plan-based measures.
This distinction is based on each school’s performance data for the 2014-15 school year. The finish
line that marks success moves each year, ensuring that schools never rest with their last accomplishments. In all, 29 elementary schools, both traditional schools (1-8), two high schools, and The Nokesville School (K-8) earned the honor this year.
Partnership with BDHS

"Looking for a babysitter so you can go shopping without the kids or have a nice dinner out?  The Nokesville K8 is partnering with Brentsville District High School!   Click the  'Partnership With Brentsville' button today to learn about the final babysitting date sponsored by the Junior Class on Saturday, February 13 from 5pm to 9pm!"   We appreciate your partnership.

Smart Phone Donations
Ready for a phone upgrade? If so, please consider donating your old phone to The Nokesville School! Our students can use them for internet access during class!
Clearly, it's important for everyone to wipe clean their old smartphones or mobile devices before giving them away, selling them, or disposing of them in some other way. You do not want to leave any of your personal or business data on it.

Instructions for what to do to remove all your information from an iPhone before disposal can be found on Apple’s website:
Recommendations for how to clean your android device can be found here:
Once you are confident that the personal data that was on your smartphone cannot be resurrected please send the phone, battery and charger to the Nokesville K-8 School with your student. They can bring it Mrs. Swartz in Room 138.

Middle School on the Move

Middle School Parents,
We are so excited about the Middle School Moves (MSM) program! MSM gives middle school students the last 10 minutes of the lunch period to use exercise equipment or walk in the auxiliary gym. This is a great way to provide active time for the middle school students who no longer have recess to get their blood flowing. Walking, exercising or participating in an activity for 10 minutes after lunch can give them the boost they need to keep their brains engaged for the remainder of the day.
We need to have two volunteers each day to help monitor the cafeteria and the auxiliary gym between 11 and 12. The target start date will be October 1. Having volunteers who are available the same day each week would be ideal (similar to elementary school book room), but we need all hands on deck. Please email me ( if you can volunteer once a week, once a month or once in a while, with specifics on your availability. We will continue to refine a schedule, and potentially post it on a signup website so we can fill gaps.
We do not have to limit the activities to exercise equipment and walking the gym. It would be wonderful to make other activities and programs available. If you, or someone you know, would be interested in leading a special game or fitness program please reach out to me (kick ball, Zumba, yoga, etc.).
We cannot have this program without volunteers. Please consider giving your time to provide this experience to our children.

Kind Regards,
 Sonya Jacob
