Saturday Early Writers Workshops
Northern Virginia Writing Project
Based on the popularity of their Saturday Early Writers Workshops, the Northern Virginia Writing Project are excited to announce a 
NEW one-week summer camp for Early Writers 
(rising grades 1 through 4).
Session 1:  July  25 - 29 or
Session 2:  August 1 -5 
Mon- Fri: 9:30am - 12:30pm
George Mason University Arlington Campus
This one-week summer camp is an opportunity for early writers (rising grades 1-4) to spend each morning for a week with trained Northern Virginia Writing Project Teacher Consultants exploring writing and having fun with writing along with reading, listening, and speaking activities.  This camp is geared toward students who like to write and want to participate.  English Language Learners are particularly encouraged to sign up.  (more information click here)
Special Focus Summer News
Summer break is a time parents look for activities to support their child’s learning and social needs. For ideas on helping your child stay engaged during the summer, check out the 2016 Summer Camp list on the PRC’s website (www.pwcs.edu from the blue menu bar, select “Community Resources”), and your local library for additional resources. During the summer months, parents and school staff are invited to check out disability-related library materials from the Center’s free lending library. For more information click here.

Prince William Public Library Summer Reading Program
The Prince William Public Library System's Summer Reading Program  begins registration on June 1st. That's when Students can start recording their readings to earn prizes on June 20th.  Click on the links below to find out more.

Volunteers Needed for MS SCA
 Middle School Student Council Association  Field Day Celebration
The Middle School SCA is organizing the 2nd annual field day on June 16th from 8:00- 12:30 to celebrate the hard work the students have done as they push through the final fourth nine weeks with a strong finish. In order to make the day a successful one, we are asking for your help in various ways.
The SCA is requesting volunteers to monitor events and activities. We would also appreciate donations for prizes. Ideas for prizes include the following: gift cards, movies (G-Rated), books, games, summer items, arts and craft supplies, candy, as well as anything you may think of. Library End of Year Procedures
As the 2015-2016 school year comes to end so must library checkout and usage.  Below are dates to remember:
Friday, May 27th---Last Day for Checkout of library items
Friday, June 3rd----ALL library items must be returned
Monday, June 6th--Library
Inventory begins

Friday, June 10th---Last day for returns and fines to be paid
Daily notices regarding overdue items will be sent home starting Monday, June 6th.  Please help your student(s) locate the items and then return them to school.  If an item is lost or damaged, he/she will be assessed the cost of replacing the item(s).  Any items not returned/paid for will be carried over on their patron record for the following year.
Volunteer Tea

 (Classrooms, Book Room, Middle School on the Move, Clubs, PTO, Advisory Council, and any other areas)

Please join us on Wednesday, June 1st from 3:15-4:00 pm in the school library for a Volunteer Tea.  We would like to honor you for generously donating your valuable time to help make the school year a success for all of our students. You have made a huge difference to the students and teachers!  
Summer Arts Plus
Summer Arts Plus is a unique program for children rising 1st graders to rising 9th graders currently enrolled in Prince William County Schools with behavioral health issues- ADHD, ODD, depression or related disorders that often prevent them from enjoying summer camp – will have the opportunity to develop educational, creative, leadership and social skills over the summer while working with small groups in therapy activities. Prince William Summer Youth Academy
 The Leadership Prince William Summer Youth Academy is a two week program to help students develop lifelong leadership skills, connect with other young leaders and learn about their community.  Academy Participants are rising 6th through 9th graders  Leaders In Training are rising 10th through 12th graders. The program runs from July11-July 22, 2016.

SUMMER SYNC AUDIOBOOKS for Teens
Not enough good things can be said about the Summer Sync Audiobook program (www.audiobookSYNC.com).
Each week between May 5th and August 17th two audiobooks are free at the website, for one week only. Be sure to download the Overdrive Media program first to install each book that week. Once you have the full files 
downloaded, they can be listened to at any time in the future. There are 30 books available this summer!

TNS Dress Code - What to Wear!

Parents/guardians may be called to bring appropriate clothing for students whose clothing does not adhere to the dress code. Gym clothes or loaner shirts and sweatpants may be provided to those students determined to wear inappropriate clothing to school. Additional disciplinary action may also be taken by the administration for repeat offenders following The Nokesville School's Behavior Matrix. Thank you for your support of The Nokesville School as we strive to create a productive learning environment for all of our students.
