Social Media Presentation
Parents and guardians, on May 27, 2014 at 7:00pm at Marsteller Middle School there will be a presentation led by Officer Martz.

He will be discussing some of the dangers and concerns related to social media and provide information on how you can be involved in monitoring this for your child. 

Family Math Night

Family Math Night--Thursday, April 24, 7:00-8:00 p.m. in the NES Cafeteria.

Family Heritage Night
Come out and join the fun for Family Heritage Night.  

We will see you at Nokesville Elementary School on Thursday, May 1st from 6-8.

Oh! To be in the Nokesville Orchestra!
The NES Sixth Grade Orchestra performed at the VBODA Orchestra Assessment at Patriot High School on March 12th and earned a rating of "Excellent (II)" from the distinguished panel of judges.  

The students are shown here preparing for their performance at NES the day of the Assessment.  They are under the direction of Mrs. Debbie Trowbridge, String Instructor.  

It's a great day to be in the Nokesville Orchestra!



SOLs are here! Here is a chance to prepare!
These practice items provide examples of the new content and increased rigor represented by the revised Standards of Learning (SOL) and illustrate the new Technology-Enhanced Item types for the mathematics, reading, science, and writing SOL tests.

Technology-Enhanced Items (TEI) require students to indicate their responses in ways other than a multiple-choice format.  Click here to go to the VDOE site to have your child practice.

 We have some exciting news to share. The upcoming K-8 school has been named! The new school will be.....The Nokesville School! Thanks to all involved with the naming committee for their assistance in creating our new name!
Welcome to March's PWCPS Advisory Meetings
The following Advisory Committees or Councils will hold regularly scheduled meetings in March. Meetings are open to the appointed members and the agendas, presentations, and minutes are available to inform the general public. Space limitations may make it difficult to open meetings beyond the membership.

Talent Search for Young Scientists Underway! Top Prize is $25,000!

The Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge is open to students in grades 5–8 and provides the opportunity for students to win $25,000, a student adventure trip, and the title "America's Top Young Scientist 2014.”

The contest encourages students to share their passion for science by asking them to create a one–two-minute video communicating the science behind a possible solution to an everyday problem.

Entries are evaluated on their creativity, scientific knowledge, persuasiveness, and overall presentation.  Ten finalists will be selected to participate in an exclusive mentorship program working directly with a 3M scientist.

Nokesville 6th grade teacher,Ms. Erin Hart, the teacher who loves adventure, has met the “Gold Standard” of teaching by becoming Nationally Board Certified. Certification is a rigorous process that demands years of commitment. Ms. Hart has earned the highest credential available from which our students are sure to benefit.

Once you start looking, you'll see these little pink coupons everywhere! 

Each Box Top coupon is worth 10¢ for your school. Each eligible school participating in the Box Tops for Education program may earn up to, but not more than, $20,000 cash per year (beginning on March 2 of every year) from the Clip program.  

Please save your Box Top for Education Labels.  These box tops are used to purchase equipment and supplies for our school.

School of Excellence
Congratulations to Nokesville Elementary for being designated as a School of Excellence for 2012-2013!!! We achieved the third highest amount of points possible, scoring a 98 out of 100 possible points for the School of Excellence criteria. Way to go Nokesville! We truly are celebrating a legacy of excellence at NES.

 
Nokesville's Assistant Principal!!!
We are very pleased to welcome our new Assistant Principal, Geoffrey Brunson, to our Nokesville family. He is currently an Administrative Intern at Victory Elementary. He will be a huge asset to our Nokesville community! We are so glad to have him join us.
